Faculty Representative Candidates: ARTS

Cannon, Ben - Faculty Rep. Candidate - ARTS

My main interest in being an Arts Faculty representative is getting better results from committees like Academic Policy, Quality Money and the Sustainability Board. I think a lot of the most effective results the SU is capable of are handled in these meetings, decided by too few of us. That’s not to say they do a bad job or that to do better we need to round everybody up for mandatory surveys and meetings.

My name is Matthew Huitema and I am a first year Political Science student in the Faculty of Arts.

Mansoor, Rabiya - Faculty Rep. Candidate - ARTS

Dear Arts Faculty Students,

I am honored to be able to present to you, the students, my vision for the Arts Faculty. Increasing student opportunities, addressing academic needs, creating a community and establishing transparency and accountability are the three main goals I hope to achieve in the SU during my term as Arts Faculty Representative.

Norman, Kelsy - Faculty Rep. Candidate - ARTS

My interest in running for Faculty of Arts representative of the University of Calgary Students' Union stems from a growing interest in and passion for getting involved in organizations at the local level. Organizations whose focus is on those issues that impact the lives of people directly have the most success in cultivating positive and meaningful results; the University of Calgary Students' Union is no exception.

Schur, Brandon - Faculty Rep. Candidate - ARTS

As a fourth year political science major actively involved in SU clubs and currently serving on a club executive, I know firsthand both the great opportunities clubs offer and the challenges they face. As we juggle our hectic personal, work, and academic lives, we want our time as students to count, and student clubs and SU events offer many amazing experiences. For this reason, I advocate increased support for clubs and initiatives that will improve student life on campus.

Weir, Scott - Faculty Rep. Candidate - ARTS

Scott Weir is in his second year of Political Science and hopes to do Co-op as well.  He is a Peer Helper with the Emerging Leaders program and loves working with the Student Success Center.  He is also a voting member of the Student Union Sustainability Board, VP Public Relations for the EcoClub, a member of the Political Science Association and a player on the Muggle Quidditch team.  He is originally from Leduc, Alberta and chose the U of C because it has a superior Poli Sci program to the U of A.  Besides how can you not love being this close to the mountains!
