Undergrad Research Awards
Board of Governors and Students’ Union Oral Presentation Award - $1000
Three diverse, innovative and broad reaching projects are chosen to present their research topic. The researcher(s) who meets the overarching criteria the best while delivering his/her presentation in a clear matter to a wide audience will be awarded.
President Elizabeth Cannon Leadership in Research Award - $500
This award will be given to an undergraduate whose project showcases excellence and leadership in research. This includes demonstrating potential future success, contributing to the campus community or being an innovative project originating at our institution.
Vice Provost Students International Award -$500
This award will be given to an engaged undergraduate who participated in a research project abroad (outside of Alberta). Their research must demonstrate meaningful contribution to the society at large in the most innovative way possible.
Future Alumni Award - $1000
This award will be given to an undergraduate whose research project addresses our community needs and proposes an original and effective solution or demonstrates insight and potential research opportunities on a community issue.
O’Brien Center Health and Wellness Award -$1000
This award will be given to a research project, not limited to any disciplines, that meaningfully contributes to the area of health and wellness.
Graduate Students’ Association Award - $500
This award will be given to an undergraduate whose research project is original and student-driven. It must also demonstrate potential to be continued at a more senior level.
Office of Sustainability Social Sustainability Award - $1000
This award will be given to an interdisciplinary research project that exhibits insight and advancement of social sustainability. This includes projects which assist in campus or community sustainability efforts and has the capacity to be expanded for future initiatives.
Office of Sustainability Environmental Sustainability Award - $1000
This award will be given to an interdisciplinary research project that exhibits insight and advancement of environmental sustainability. This includes projects which assist in campus or community sustainability efforts and has the capacity to be expanded for future initiatives.
Students’ Union Honour Thesis Award - $500
This award will be given to an outstanding honour thesis project that builds upon and contributes to existing knowledge and or research. The research project will not be limited to its ends results; rather it must have a well thought out purpose and methodology while meeting the above expectations.
Students’ Union Lord Byron Award - $1000 and $500 (to the runner-up)
This award will be given to students in the Faculty of Arts whose research demonstrates both exceptional skills in their field of study and the potential for global or community leadership.
Students’ Union Science Award - $1000
This award will be given to a student in the Faculty of Science whose research demonstrates exceptional skills in their field of study and contributes meaningfully to the scientific and or broader community.
