SU Events

Once the papers have been written, the studying done and that last math problem solved it’s time to check out the other side of campus life.

Your SU offers three great venues and some special annual celebration events to provide that perfect opportunity to get involved, meet new people and expand your horizons.

That Empty Space

Based on popularity since it was established in 2006 and the Quality Money initiative, That Empty Space got a new location across from The Den and a facelift in 2010. That Empty Space offers Cinemania with free movies every Monday and Yoga every Tuesday (at 12:30pm), Wednesday (at noon) and Thursday (at 12:30pm.)

That Empty Space is also available for SU-sanctioned club and other campus group event bookings.

Mac Hall

Mac Hall in the MacEwan Student Centre is a top rated concert venue right here at the U of C. Mac Hall offers an exciting line-up of great artists throughout the year. With room for 1800, complemented by the MacEwan Ballroom with room for 1,000, the SU with the support of our exclusive concert coordinator, local promoter Greg Curtis of Tooth Blackner Presents, provides an affordable experience with some of the hottest bands and performers around.

Check out what’s coming here.  And if you want tickets just connect with Ticketfly.

The Den

Undeniably the hottest spot on campus! Indoor at The Den and Black Lounge, outdoor on The Patio or privately in the Red Room, you’ve got choices for great food, beverages, entertainment and fun. Check out the Den’s nightly entertainment options and some great feature entertainment.

Annual Celebration Events

Are you new to campus or a U of C veteran? The SU has events that will appeal to everyone!

We start fall semester with some great Orientation Week events and fun activities! This is a chance to get familiar or reacquaint yourself with all that the SU and U of C has to offer.

After Orientation Week it’s time to get involved, Clubs Week is a fun week where you can explore the more than 300 SU-sanctioned on campus clubs. We hope that there is one that represents your interests and gets you involved. If nothing peaks your fancy come ask us how to start your own club!

We know that the end of the semester is crunch time and you`re no doubt pulling all nighters and spending every spare moment studying in the TFDL. We finish the semester with a brand new SU program, Stress Less Week! We will be bringing you a week full of stress relieving and fun activities in MSC to give you a little break before you get back at it. Finish the week off with the annual Nogfest cab at The Den & Black Lounge and it`s a great way to end the semester.

We know that study space is hard to come by on campus, especially during exam period, so we open up That Empty Space during exams and it becomes That Study Space, a quiet and relaxed study area just for you!

Shake off the post-holiday blues in January by entering a team in Frostbite, the coldest week at the U of C. Compete in a week of activities for a chance to win some awesome prizes! And don't forget there's a second clubs week at the beginning of the new year and winter semester.

And on the last day of classes in April, it’s Bermuda Shorts Day (BSD). Over 50 years of tradition at the U of C, BSD offers a chance to join in on the biggest party of the year.

Your SU also offers one-time or special events. Be sure to visit this page for announcements and invites to upcoming events or check out our online event calendar.
