SU Events

Once the papers have been written, the studying done and that last math problem solved it’s time to check out the other side of campus life.

Your SU offers three great venues and some special annual celebration events to provide that perfect opportunity to get involved, meet new people and expand your horizons.

That Empty Space

Based on popularity since it was established in 2006 and the Quality Money initiative, That Empty Space got a new location across from The Den and a facelift in 2010. That Empty Space offers Cinemania with free movies every Monday and Yoga every Tuesday (at 12:30pm), Wednesday (at noon) and Thursday (at 12:30pm.)

That Empty Space is also available for SU-sanctioned club and other campus group event bookings.

Mac Hall

Mac Hall in the MacEwan Student Centre is a top rated concert venue right here at the U of C. Mac Hall offers an exciting line-up of great artists throughout the year. With room for 1800, complemented by the MacEwan Ballroom with room for 1,000, the SU with the support of our exclusive concert coordinator, local promoter Greg Curtis of Tooth Blackner Presents, provides an affordable experience with some of the hottest bands and performers around.

Check out what’s coming here.  And if you want tickets just connect with Ticketfly.

The Den

Undeniably the hottest spot on campus! Indoor at The Den and Black Lounge, outdoor on The Patio or privately in the Red Room, you’ve got choices for great food, beverages, entertainment and fun. Check out the Den’s nightly entertainment options and some great feature entertainment.

Annual Celebration Events

Starting at or returning to the U of C? We’d like to welcome you and help you celebrate your achievements.

We rev up the fall semester each year with some great Orientation Week information and events. A chance to get familiar or reacquaint yourself with all the SU and the U of C offers. And on the heels of Orientation Week, Clubs Week - a fun week where you can explore the more than 220 SU-sanctioned clubs on campus. Guaranteed to be one that represents your interests and gets you involved.

Shake off the post-holiday blues in January by entering a team in Frostbite, the most exciting new tradition at the U of C. Compete in a week of zany activity for a chance to win some awesome prizes! And don't forget there's a second clubs week at the beginning of the new year and winter semester.

Hard work and achievement requires celebration, so your SU brings you two great events that wrap up the fall and winter semesters. On the last day of classes before the winter break your SU holds NogFest, a holiday party to end all holiday parties. Be sure to wear your ugliest holiday sweater!

And on the last day of classes in April, it’s Bermuda Shorts Day (BSD). A 50 year tradition at the U of C, BSD offers a chance to join in on the biggest party of the year.

Your SU also offers one-time or special events. Be sure to visit this page for announcements and invites to upcoming events or check out our online event calendar.
