Notice of Referendum

Students will have the opportunity to vote on a referendum concering Career Services Fee and Access Fee.

Vote Tuesday, October 26 – Thursday, October 28

Referendum Question

As of September 2010, the SU will no longer be administering the Career Services Fee and the Access (Disability Resource Centre) Fee as a result of a decision by the University of Calgary to recognize these services as University administered services funded through the University General Non-Program Fee. As the SU does not want to double charge students, the SU is in support of these services being transferred to the University as they are an integral part of the University’s mandate and responsibility.

The SU is in support of the University’s decision to solely fund and administer the Access and Career Services Fees subject to the following:
  • That the University provide a guarantee that it will continue to fund these student facilities and services at a level equivalent to the current SU fee amount; and
  • That the SU receive from the University annual information identifying the total dollar amount that is allocated from the University General Non-Program Fee to the Disability Resource Centre and Career Centre.

Therefore,

Do you support elimination of the annual Career Services Fee as a Students’ Union fee on the understanding that the University will fund this unit from the University General Non-Program Fee? YES / NO

Do you support elimination of the annual Access Fee as a Students’ Union fee on the understanding that the University will fund this unit from the University General Non-Program Fee? YES / NO
