Outstanding Undergraduate Research at the 2012 Symposium
On November 29, 2012, the SU hosted the 7th annual Undergraduate Research Symposium in MacHall. This year 84 students shared their research through poster presentations with over 250 members of the campus community who took time to visit the symposium and a team of 35 judges made up of faculty and staff from the U of C.
For the first time a committee of students, headed up by our VP Academic Kenya-Jade Pinto, came together to create a set of criteria and a strong rubric for each project to be judged by. The competition was fierce and the awards totaling over $20,000, in 13 different categories, will be presented to our undergrad researchers at a special ceremony on Thursday December 6. The symposium was well received by everyone who attended and several members of U of C administration, including the Board of Governors, have expressed their interest in supporting this event in stronger ways next year.
