Toonie Book Sale Starts Feb. 6

Help promote literacy in our city – it only costs a Toonie!

The annual SFL Toonie Book Sale is back from February 6th to 10th in the South Courtyard.

SFL (Students’ for Literacy) is a Students’ Union Volunteer Services program and runs during each academic year from September to April. The program’s mandate is to provide free English language tutoring to adults over the age of 18 years who come from an ESL background or have developmental disabilities. All proceeds from the Toonie Book Sale go directly towards purchasing new materials for the learners to use during their lessons such as books for practicing reading and writing skills and teaching CD’s for conversational practice.

Books for the sale are donated by generous members of our campus community and include novels and children’s books. Drop by and check us out!

For more information about the SFL program, how to volunteer, or how to become a learner, contact the coordinators by email at sfl@ucalgary.ca.
