For the second year in a row, UCalgary is proposing sweeping tuition and fee increases for undergraduate students. On December 11, 2020, the UCalgary Board of Governors will be voting to approve the following tuition and fee increases for the 2021-22 academic year:
TUITION
- Tuition for continuing students (domestic and international) in most undergraduate programs will increase by 7%
- Tuition for domestic engineering students and first-year MD students will increase by 10%
- Tuition for new international students will increase by 10% in all undergraduate programs, except for in the law program (+2%) and MD program (+15%)
FEES
- The university’s Student Services Fee will increase by 7% to $257.60 per semester – it increased by 7% last year too
- The Athletics fee (which supports varsity athletics) will increase by 7% to $55.37 per semester – it increased by 5% last year
- The Campus Recreation fee (which supports facilities like the gym) will increase by 7% to $40.10 per semester – it increased by 4.4% last year
PARKING
- Daily parking rates will increase by $1 a day – this amounts to a 12.5% for surface lots, a 10% increase for the Arts Parkade, and a 25% increase at the Spy Hill campus
