Building Resilience Through Mindfulness: LovingKindness Meditation
Lovingkindness is a form of mindfulness meditation that focuses on training the heart/mind to be open and kind. The story goes that the Buddha taught his monks this practice as an antidote to fear and anxiety. There are also many science-based reasons to try lovingkindness meditation, including that it increases positive emotions and social connection, benefits your psychophysiology and makes it more resilient. This session includes a bit of the history of the practice, about 30 minutes of lovingkindness meditation, followed by discussion and a handout to take home.
