The Students’ Union (SU) is led by students elected by the University of Calgary undergraduates as their representatives. Under the direction of these student leaders, 45 full-time staff and more than 500 part-time staff and volunteers deliver a wide range of programs, events, and services to the campus community.
Within MacEwan Building, the SU operates businesses including Bound and Copied, Stör, the Den and Black Lounge, La Taqueria, and the MacEwan Conference and Event Centre. The proceeds of these operations are reinvested directly into SU student programs, awards, and events.

ABOUT THE ROLE
With a focus on quality and speed of repairs, the Building Maintenance Specialist role is tasked with assisting in the day-to-day repairs, painting, and upkeep of the MacEwan Building.
This position is responsible for executing daily work requests as well as implementing and maintaining the preventative maintenance program. Additional project work includes plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, painting, general patch and repair of the facility, and interfacing with university staff to ensure that the MacEwan Building is operated at the highest standards.
Further, this position provides coverage of the MacEwan Building loading dock, as required.

Hours of work for this role are Tuesday to Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in general maintenance in a commercial, retail, industrial, or hospitality environment.
- Experience in plumbing, painting, drywall repair, and general maintenance is preferred.
- 5th Class Power Engineers Certificate of competency, or equivalent, is an asset.
- Completed certification in and/or interest in pursuing: WHMIS, Standard First Aid, and lift training is an asset.
