About the Program

The SU Volunteer Tax Program is a free tax filing service offered to qualifying members of the University of Calgary community, including students, staff, and faculty. Volunteers are undergraduate students from various faculties that receive training from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and work to file and audit over 1000 tax returns during tax season.


We work in partnership with the CRA to ensure that eligible members of the University of Calgary community have a trusted place to file their taxes. The SU Volunteer Tax Program and all of its volunteers are registered with the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.


The Tax Program runs over a six-week period between February and April.



For the 2021-2022 year, the Tax Program is recruiting approximately 40 volunteers. Positions are open to any registered full-time undergraduate students.



Volunteers must commit to a minimum of four hours per week during the six-week clinic (February through April). Mandatory training sessions take place in February.
