Happy Summer (and a quick survey)! – President’s Message for June 7

June 7, 2017  |   Found in Advocacy

PrintHey UCalgary!

I’m Branden Cave, your new Students’ Union (SU) President. I hope you’re having a great summer so far, I wanted to introduce myself and also give you a heads up on an important item that you may find interesting!

What is the SU? The SU is your advocate and representative on campus. We act as your voice to the university, government, and the off-campus community. Representing your interests is our number one priority. We do this in many ways, including sitting on university committees and forwarding you important information about what is happening on campus.

On that note, we’re looking for your input on a critical issue. Do you want to contribute to improving the quality of education and student life on campus? The university is asking for your feedback to help shape the creation of the Academic and Research Plans, which will help achieve the goals of the new Eyes High strategy. Tell the university what they are succeeding at and what you want to see improve in the areas of quality of instruction, scholarships, awards, and grants, and learning and social spaces among other things. You can access the survey here. The deadline is June 23.

We’re all about an open-door policy, so feel free to drop by the SU offices and set up a meeting with any of us if you have questions about your SU’s programs, services, events, or advocacy priorities.

Have a great summer, and if you run into me this year don’t be a stranger – I am here because of you, so I’d always love to chat, even if it is just a quick hello!
