PrintWelcome back UCalgary students! Congrats on making it to the winter semester! This is your Students’ Union President with some information that you might find useful as you navigate the next few weeks. I’ll keep it brief, so check the links if you want more info.

First up – Take the annual SU Survey now and enter to win some awesome prizes like a $250 flight voucher or $10 gift certificates to use in the Mac Hall food court! We want to hear about your satisfaction with the University of Calgary both in and outside of the classroom. Your opinion matters! Take it now and tell a friend – it only takes 10 minutes.

Interested in doing something meaningful over Reading Week? Alternative Spring Break is recruiting volunteers! Over three days, you can gain volunteer experience while giving back to your community. Apply online by January 18.

There are more than 300 clubs that are part of the SU family. January 21-24 come to the north and south courtyards in Mac Hall and check out Clubs Week. There will be hundreds of clubs there, so chances are there’s one perfect for you!

Keep the back-to-school blues at bay by joining us at the Den on Thursday, January 17 for a White Out Party with DJs Benanas and Crooka. The dress code? Wear all white so we can have the Den glowing!

Look better in red? Show off your UCalgary pride at the annual Crowchild Classic on Tuesday, January 29 at the Scotiabank Saddledome. You won’t want to miss the chance to watch our Dinos embarrass the MRU Cougars again this year! $5 tickets are available online.

Do you want to meet new university president Ed McCauley? He wants to meet you! Swing by Mac Hall on January 25 at 11:00 a.m. for a meet and greet with him.

Was the one thing you learned last semester that you definitely need a locker? Good news! There are still a handful of lockers available. Rent one now! If you rented a locker in September, no need to renew it – it’s yours until April 27!

Finally, do you know the power you have when you vote? How can we get politicians to listen to students and act on what we want? It starts with showing them that students vote. Your SU is running a massive Get Out the Vote campaign and we need you! Pledge to vote and we’ll contact you closer to the provincial election and answer any questions you have about when to vote and what you need to bring with you. Plus, you could win some awesome prizes (like flight vouchers, an iPad, or a Macbook)! Want to get more involved? Volunteer to help us get others to vote!

Stay warm!

Cheers,

Sagar
