Run With Us! – President’s Message

January 25, 2017  |   Found in Advocacy

The chill of winter isn’t quite behind us yet, so let’s give MRU the cold shoulder when our Dinos men’s and women’s hockey teams take on their Cougars in the ultimate cross-town smack-down. Next Thursday, Feb. 2 is the annual Crowchild Classic at the Scotiabank Saddledome, complete with the full in-game Flames experience.  We’re giving away some cool items to 800 lucky students that night. Make sure to wear red to show your U of C pride! We’re hoping to once again break the national attendance record for U Sports hockey, beating last year’s total of 12,859! Free tickets are available online using the promo code: DINOS

Have you ever thought about running for a position in the SU? The SU is a great place to gain professional experience, connect with your faculty, and influence university policy. Make your mark and run in the 2017 SU election to be an advocate for students and make connections with students and faculty.  Nomination packages will be available Monday, Jan. 30 and must be dropped off during nomination days, Feb. 13-15, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.  You can get all the information you need on the SU Elections page.

The four VPs and I are full time, salaried positions, and you are always welcome to drop by the office to find out more about what we do. There are also 22 part-time positions representing your faculty or sitting as a student Senate or Board of Governors rep.  Voting days are March 7-9, and I hope that you consider running. It’s one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had the opportunity to do at U of C!

Chance at a Free Lunch (…valued exactly at $10)

How’s your university experience!? We want to hear from you! If you haven’t already taken the SU Annual Survey please make sure to fill it out today! We use the results of the survey to improve our programs and services and to advocate to the university about how we can ensure your experience at the University of Calgary is the best it can be. Plus, fill out the survey and you could be eligible for one of two hundred $10 vouchers to use in MacHall. Take it now and tell a friend:
