Vice President Student Life

Alisha Gordon is a born and raised Albertan. She has been a student in the Faculty of Arts since 2016, pursuing a combined degree in international indigenous studies and urban studies. Her academic experience at the University of Calgary solidified her love for public policy, urban planning and social justice, which is reflected in her research and advocacy efforts.

Alisha is grateful for all the opportunities she has had to get involved on campus. She has volunteered at the Native Centre, the Q Centre and the Faith and Spirituality Centre. Additionally, Alisha has served on several SU clubs: as the President of the Indigenous Students’ Council, as the Vice President External for the Faculty of Arts Students’ Association and as a Community Commissioner for the Consent Awareness and Sexual Education club. This involvement with clubs has helped her develop a deep love for our campus community and student advocacy. In 2017 and 2018, Alisha was elected to serve as one of the undergraduate representatives on the University of Calgary’s Senate. In this role, Alisha developed the SU Clubs and Senate Mentorship Program, chaired the student mentorship working group and acted as a member on both the Engagement and Honours Committees.

Off campus, you can find Alisha learning how to swim, at Globe Cinema trying to find her new favourite movie (she’s a documentary fanatic!) or visiting one of the countless art galleries and museums in Calgary. She is incredibly excited for her new role as the SU’s Vice President Student Life and to advocate for and engage with all students at the University of Calgary.
