Super Summer Patio and SUPER Work Program

Hey U of C! I’m Levi Nilson, your new Students’ Union (SU) President

You’re probably asking yourself “why should I give a sh*t about the Students’ Union?” The SU is your advocate, activist, and representative that serves as your voice to the university, the government, and larger society. You are the reason we exist. Representing your interests is our number one priority; which is why we advocated against tuition increases last year and why the new provincial government has committed to a rollback of tuition increases as well as a tuition freeze. We are the main voice at the table aiming to keep your costs low.

However, we’re not only concerned with tuition and the cost of education. We offer a ton of programs and services including our great SUPER Work program.  If you were lucky enough to get a job this summer related to your degree but aren’t quite getting paid enough, the SU offers a $1,000 subsidy to help you out.

Any campus issue that you care about is an issue that we’re here to help you with. Our elected student council includes representatives from each faculty – if you have any specific issues that you’d like their help with, they want to hear from you. If you want to find out a bit more about your elected representatives, check out our website for biographies, photos, and contact information:

We’re all about an open door policy, so feel free to drop by the SU offices and set up a meeting with any of us if you have questions about your programs, services, or the SU’s advocacy priorities.

We’re giving the Den a big facelift over the summer so while it’s closed, join us upstairs at the Black Lounge and on our great patio! There’s a great new summer menu  and I celebrated the end of the work week last Friday enjoying a few of these items with a frosty beverage. I’d highly recommend checking it out – we’re committed to great service and keeping our prices low for students:

Have a great summer, and if you ever run into me this year don’t be a stranger – I am here because of you, so I’d always love to chat, even if it is just a quick hello!
