Hey UCalgary,

I’m Branden Cave, your SU President and I’ve got a few quick updates on some important things happening around campus.

As stress ramps up on campus it’s important to remember to take of yourselves. The SU offers some great, free options to help you unwind:

  • Free movies at The Den every Monday at 7:00 p.m. Check out our listings at https://www.su.ucalgary.ca/events/cinemania/.
  • Free yoga classes in That Empty Space three days a week, every week – Tuesday and Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at noon. We even provide the mats!
  • Pet Therapy, where we bring in therapy dogs once a month to help you forgot all your worries, is happening again on November 17 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in That Empty Space.

Get into the holiday spirit early and help the SU Campus Food Bank! During the Holiday Food Drive (Nov. 14-16), SU Clubs will be collecting monetary and food donations at tables throughout MacHall. Food bank usage has continued to increase and we need your help to make it through the holiday season.

Have you seen all the great SU Quality Money projects that we’ve been featuring on social media for the last month? If you’ve got a big idea about improving campus, you too can apply for a SU Quality Money grant and make it a reality. Apply by Nov. 24: https://www.su.ucalgary.ca/programs-services/funding-awards/quality-money/

Speaking of great SU Quality Money projects, make sure to take advantage of the free flu shot clinic in MacHall from Oct. 30 to Nov. 10. The clinic generally runs from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. every day, but check here for opening hours on specific dates: http://www.ucalgary.ca/events/calendar/fluniversity-101-get-your-free-flu-shot-today

The 12th annual Undergraduate Research Symposium is happening on Nov. 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in MacHall. Swing by and see what undergrads just like you have been researching. Student researchers will be competing for multiple awards.

And finally, our great Dinos football team has clinched first place in the league and will be hosting the Canada West semifinal game on Nov. 4. For more information, check out their webpage: http://www.godinos.com/index.aspx?path=football

Good luck with midterms and studying!

Regards,
Branden,
President, The Students’ Union
