Hello UCalgary students!

Do I need to ask whether you’ve noticed the SU election yet? You may have already been approached by a student running in this year’s SU General Election looking for your support, and I’m sure you’ve seen campaign posters, banners, or people in costumes around campus. Take a few minutes to talk to candidates about your needs as an undergraduate and don’t be afraid to ask questions to help you make an informed decision. Also, check out the candidate information ahead of time.

Then from March 5 to 7 make sure you vote! I can’t stress how easy it is. It only takes three minutes and you can do it online – just log into your Student Centre at You can literally do vote from anywhere – while you’re on the bus, waiting for class to start, or while you’re standing in line for coffee. We’ll also have polling stations set up around campus to make it simple.

Why vote? Because, whether you’re aware of it or not, the SU has a profound impact on your student experience each year and you want to make sure those in charge represent you and your interests. The ballot will include choices for SU Executive positions, options for one or more students to represent your particular faculty, and your choice for who to represent you on the university’s senate and board. Don’t miss the chance to select who represents you and your needs to the SU and UCalgary for the 2019-20 academic year.

Talk to your candidates and don’t forget to vote next week! Join us at the Den on Thursday, March 7 at 5:30 p.m. to find out the results – I’ll see you there!
