Abdu Negmeldin, Vice President Internal

Abdu is a fourth year Computer Science major, with a concentration in Information Security. Outside the office, Abdu enjoys writing novels, yet ironically does not enjoy reading fiction. However, he loves watching movies, so much that he’s watched seven movies in a single day when he was younger. He always claims that in another life, he would’ve become a director, even though he still has the time to do that in this life. He also enjoys learning about history, politics, and philosophy, believing they are integral to our advancement as a society. Abdu also enjoys going to the gym, his favorite exercise being the deadlift with a lifetime goal of 675 pounds. He loves watching football and hates having to refer to it as soccer. His favorite club is FC Barcelona, and he will almost always take any opportunity to explain the history behind the club and why sports always were and always will be political. Minecraft is his favorite video game which he has been playing since he was 8 years old, and he is currently building an entire city in his survival world with architecture that is a mix of Alexandria, Vienna, Jerusalem, Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Brooklyn; in a third life he would’ve become an architect.

Before starting his term as an executive, Abdu was a Faculty of Science representative, where he accomplished many of his goals such as running an extensive survey in collaboration with his Faculty’s leadership and using the data for improvements across the board. When he found out that Science was getting a fourth SLC representative, he was quick to advocate for a fourth seat on the Faculty’s Council, and his Associate Dean was open to giving a second seat on CARC for undergraduate student representatives. His Associate Deans were keen on his feedback to the point where the Faculty’s website was cleaned up and improved after he had made a small point on its inaccessibility in one of their monthly meetings. He also built onto the work of his predecessors, advocating for more flexible deadlines and balanced workload.
